Last updated : 02/04/2026

Intended audience

The target audience for the Travel Security Awareness training includes employees who regularly travel to high-risk environments. This training is particularly suitable for those who face security, medical and cyber risks due to their business travel. Participants may come from different sectors of activity, such as the humanitarian sector, international affairs, or any other organisation that sends its staff to risk areas. The training is designed to strengthen the resilience and anticipation skills of employees, enabling them to manage critical situations with confidence.

Companies wishing to protect their employees and optimise their safety during missions abroad should consider this training. It is also useful for anyone wishing to acquire essential skills in personal safety and incident management, which is increasingly crucial in today's world.

Description

The training course Travel Security Awareness is designed to help participants navigate safely in high-risk environments. It follows a rigorous programme that covers various aspects of personal safety and incident management.

The training content is divided into several modules:

  • Management of cognitive biases and improvement of risk perception.
  • Techniques for preventing aggression and avoiding conflict.
  • De-escalation strategies and negotiation in case of confrontation.
Module 2: Personal security and incident management
  • Immersive scenarios such as risky checkpoints and emergency evacuations.

The training uses an immersive and pragmatic approach, integrating applied theoretical elements, realistic scenarios and interactive learning tools such as case studies, videos and role plays.

In addition, medical simulations are included to teach first aid in a degraded context, as well as cyberthreat awareness to ensure data protection and secure communications.

This training is organised in private sessions, either at our premises in Diegem or at a location of your choice, thus offering maximum flexibility for participants.

The training can be organised in Dutch, French and English.

Training objectives

The educational objectives of the Travel Security Awareness training are multiple and aim to prepare participants to react effectively in risky situations. These objectives include:

  • Developing situational awareness and the ability to anticipate threats.
  • Understanding the main security, medical and cyber risks in hostile environments.
  • Acquiring stress management and rapid decision-making techniques.
  • Know how to apply security protocols to avoid or minimise incidents.
  • Learn basic first aid in crisis situations.
  • Strengthen cyber security awareness to protect data on assignment.

These objectives are achieved through a combination of theoretical learning, case studies, practical exercises and simulations, making the training immersive and engaging.

Prerequisites

This Travel Security Awareness training course requires no prior knowledge. It has been designed to be accessible to everyone, whether or not they have a background in security or crisis management. The objective is to enable each participant to benefit from effective learning, whatever their initial level of knowledge.

It is recommended that participants be open to interactive learning and role-playing, as this is an integral part of the teaching methodology used in this training course. A proactive attitude and team spirit are also assets that promote better assimilation of the skills taught.

Teaching methodology

The Travel Security Awareness training course is based on an immersive and pragmatic pedagogical approach. It combines several teaching methods:

  • Applied theory: Participants will learn stress management and resilience models.
  • Simulations: Realistic exercises will be offered to test participants' reactions in real time.
  • Interactive learning tools: Use of case studies, videos and role-playing to enrich the learning experience.
  • Medical simulations: First aid training in a degraded context to prepare participants for emergency situations.
  • Awareness of cyber threats: Participants will learn best practices to protect their data and communications.

This variety of teaching methods ensures a dynamic and engaging training, tailored to the specific needs of the participants.

Evaluation and monitoring process

The assessment methods in the Travel Security Awareness training are integrated throughout the learning process. Participants will be assessed through:

  • Practical exercises and simulations that will test their ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired in real-life situations.
  • Regular feedback from the trainers, enabling participants to understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
  • A final assessment that may include a post-exercise analysis, to ensure that the necessary skills have been integrated and can be implemented in any situation.

These evaluation methods aim to ensure that participants are fully prepared to manage security situations and react appropriately during their missions.
